MFC GIM Canada Adds Depth and Experience to Investment Grade Corporate Bond Team — August 2009

TORONTO, August 2009 — MFC Global Investment Management (Canada) announces that Richard Cortese has joined MFC GIM as Assistant Vice President and Portfolio Manager on the Canadian fixed income team. Cortese reports to Terry Carr, Vice President & Managing Director, Canadian Fixed Income, working with Terry and the team on all Canadian institutional accounts that employ investment grade corporate bonds as well as a number of sub-advised funds - Manulife Corporate Bond Fund; Manulife Structured Bond Class; Manulife Monthly High Income Fund.

Mr. Cortese rejoins MFC GIM with more than 25 years of fixed income management experience. Most recently, he was Senior Bond Manager with ING Canada. He has worked in both the Canadian and US bond markets and previously worked at London Life and Canada Trust.
