MFC GIM (U.S.) announces two additions to Global Multi-Sector Fixed Income Team — September 14, 2009

TORONTO, September 14, 2009 — MFC Global Investment Management (U.S.), LLC is pleased to announce two additions to the Global Multi-Sector Fixed Income team lead by Dan Janis that will expand its portfolio management expertise and investment analyst depth. Thomas Goggins and Rebecca Braeu joined the team effective September 14, 2009.

"I am very excited to have Tom and Rebecca join our team." said Dan Janis. "Tom is going to work with me and portfolio manager Jack Iles on our team's strategies, providing additional experience to complement our investment capabilities. Rebecca comes to us with deep research skills to focus on a critical area of the global investment market - emerging markets."

In his role as senior portfolio manager, Tom's responsibilities will include portfolio management, asset allocation and capital structure research. He comes to MFC GIM with a successful track record in managing fixed income, equities and alternative investments. Previously, Tom has worked for Fontana Capital, SAC Capital, John Hancock, Putnam Investments and Transamerica Investments. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Business Administration and earned a Masters of Management from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University.

Rebecca Braeu, Ph.D., will join the team as an analyst covering emerging markets. Prior to joining the fixed income team, Rebecca was part of the Economic Research team at MFC GIM, conducting extensive research on the global economy and forecasting key macroeconomic variables for those countries in which MFC GIM has a material investment interest. Prior to joining the firm, Rebecca was an assistant professor of Economics at College of the Holy Cross, and previously at California State University, Long Beach.
