Plan Sponsor Services

John Hancock is committed to our goal of superb service to plan sponsors and their administrators. As a full service provider, we manage the entire benefit payment process, relieving the plan administrator of that burden and the plan sponsor of the benefit liability.

A customer service team from our staff is assigned to handle your group pension contract to successfully establish your employees' benefit payment package and to answer any questions regarding the underwriting and administration. Utilizing the latest technology, the team works out the conversion of your existing database to John Hancock's systems to facilitate the process.

Our services also include:

  Issuance of customized annuity certificates
  Completion of required state insurance department filings
  Plan Sponsor's name on the annuity check
  Acceptance of employer certification of dates of birth



Broker / Consultant Services

A John Hancock Representative will work with the Broker/Consultant to coordinate our Request for Proposal (RFP) process. We work hard to provide the creative, customized solutions the Broker/Consultant's clients are looking for.

Additional services provided include:

  Criteria and sample of bid specifications
  Outline of data requirements
  Establishment of timeline to meet client's needs
  Customized proposal specific to each client
  Due diligence information required by DOL 95-01
  Periodic updates of the financial quality of John Hancock
  Legal and Regulatory support
  Assistance in the State Insurance Department licensing requirements
  Direct work with the client upon the Broker/Consultant's request

A John Hancock Representative with an experienced background in the administration of pension plans will be assigned the responsibility of successfully installing each contract. As part of our installation process the Representative will interface with the plan sponsor to:

  Confirm benefit provisions
  Ensure smooth benefit payment transition
  Respond to plan sponsor's inquiries
  Establish lines for future communication
  Provide sample notification letters that recognize the relationship between the Plan Sponsor,
  the participants and the John Hancock
  Develop target dates for final data submission
  Review administrative forms, sample certificates, and annuity payment checks

John Hancock's special attention to these details promotes efficient ongoing administration.




Participant Services

We pay special attention to the services that we provide to plan participants and their beneficiaries. With every John Hancock group annuity contract, a customer service team is assigned to design the annuity payment package. Payees can call our customer service representatives at our toll-free number. We have the systems capability to have up to 50 customer service representatives servicing the line at any one time.

  Prompt and accurate calculation and payment of retirement benefits
  Benefit quotations
  Address, name and beneficiary designation changes
  Direct Deposit / Electronic Fund Transfer
  Customized check deductions (i.e. medical, dental, life premiums ...)
  Federal and State tax withholding and reporting
  Stop payment and reissuance of lost checks within 48 hours
  Estate tax processing
  Processing of Qualified Domestic Relations Orders
  Issuance of Annuity Certificates at execution of the contract
  The State Guaranty Association Act Notices will be delivered to the Participants who reside in states that
  require this disclosure information
